How to split pdf
Separate a long document into smaller files for colleagues, applications, or your archive.
- Choose your PDF and review its pages.
- Enter page ranges, extract every page, or choose split points.
- Download your new PDF or a ZIP of separate files.
A practical example
For a ten-page packet, use 1–3, 4–7, 8–10 to create three documents. Count pages from the first PDF page, even when printed numbering starts later.
Questions about split pdf
What is the difference between ranges and split points?
Ranges choose the groups to export, such as 1–3 and 5–6. Split points divide the full document after the page numbers you enter. Splitting after page 3 creates pages 1–3 and the remaining pages.
Why did I receive a ZIP file?
When splitting creates more than one PDF, the files are packed into a ZIP. Extract the ZIP on your device and open every PDF to confirm that each contains the intended pages.
Does this change my original file?
No. Split PDF creates a new downloadable file. The original on your device remains unchanged.
What should I do if processing fails?
Try fewer pages or a smaller file. Open the PDF in a trusted PDF editor to check for damage or encryption. Password-protected files must first be exported using the valid password. Page ranges refer to the physical page order, which may differ from printed page numbers.
Will my files be saved here?
